How Fluoride Treatments Can Help Your Child Improve Their Dental Health

As a child, developing the best teeth possible-through basic dental hygiene practices as well as good nutrition for the development of the teeth themselves-is important. If you have been wondering whether fluoride treatments are for your children, they are! Proper fluoridation of the teeth can be a vital part of helping a child's teeth grow and develop properly.

How Fluoride Works

The teeth are made of up certain minerals. These minerals make up the layers of the tooth: the hard-outer enamel, the softer dentin, and the tender pulp. As a tooth is used, it can experience wear and tear as well as minor damage.

Thankfully, a tooth's enamel can repair itself to an extent, and it uses certain minerals-including fluoride-to do this. When you use a fluoride treatment for your child's teeth, you are providing those teeth with the elements they need in order to protect themselves.

Questions? Talk with Us!
Of course, many parents are hesitant to subject their children to fluoride treatments. This is because fluoridation has gotten a bad rap over the years through the spread of rumors and disinformation.

If you are thinking about getting fluoride treatments for your child, please do not hesitate to ask us about it! We are here to help make sure that your child's teeth develop properly, and we want to do everything we can to make it happen.

If you have questions-whether you are wondering about fluoride itself, the process we use in fluoride treatments, or some other matter-we want you to feel comfortable asking.

Just pick up the phone and give us a call; or, bring the matter up the next time you are here for a cleaning. We will be happy to answer your questions and help you understand better how fluoride treatments can help your child.

If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, please call us at (503) 235-0313 today.
